Phones typically do not stand on their own. To free your hands, a 3D printed phone stand may come to your rescue.

While there are tons of free designs on established STL file sharing platforms, nearly all fall short on combining the following properties:

  • Fast and simple to print.
  • Range of angles to position the phone in.
  • Support for horizontal and vertical placement.

My phone stand design, that you can download for free , fixes the problem. It is based on a simple Bézier curve and only weighs 8 g.

Based on an eyeballed measurement with a 9 mm thick phone, the following angles were determined: 41°, 48°, 58°, and 74°. The stand’s dimensions are 21 mm (W) x 52 mm (H) x 90 mm (D).

These values can be easily adjusted by stretching the curve or by adding further ripples. Although I find the width surprisingly sufficient, I also provide a variant with a width of 62 mm for download (weight: ~23 g).
